Tim Hudak will easily hold this riding as he's been mpp for number of years and being leader increases his profile , also a fairly conservative area to begin with . most tory friendly riding in Niagara region . |

Thanks Adam for commenting on my last comment. Obviously, you didn't read it, Peterson and Rae did not belong to the same party in '85, nor were they running against an elected premier, Miller was premier for only 4 months, and neither Peterson nor Rae won the election, it was a Miller minority, they were able to make an accord and oust Miller. Hudak will win this seat, but the margin may be a little closer. |

Hudak's been historically more in his element as a savvy constituency pol than as a provincial party leader--indeed (and perhaps hinted at by his microscopic share dip in '11) there's danger of the latter blotting out the former, i.e. of the three party leaders, I reckon Hudak'd be most likely to blow his own seat a la Peterson. However, btw/the NDP nominating late and the Liberal candidate going Sir Mix-A-Lot on us, such catastrophe's been averted this time.

As much as many don't like Tim Hudak, this is a solidly Conservative riding and almost went Canadian Alliance in 2000. Never mind with the Liberals being up to their nose in scandals and wasteful spending, there is a very good chance he will be the next premier. Either way Hudak wins here even if he loses province wide. |

In fairness, Peterson and Rae were both rookies in 1985 when they took government from Frank Miller. |

I don't think Mr. Hudak is in any danger of either losing his seat or leader of official opposition status. It is too early to write him off though, remember, McGuinty, Harris, Rae and Peterson all failed in their first attempt. In fact the last rookie opposition leader to win was Drew in '42, and he beat a non elected premier, the last rookie to beat an elected long term premier was Howard Ferguson in 1923. |

Poor Hudak may someday find himself out of a career since even his right wing reform-conservative riding he went to in Niagara West-Glanbrook to avoid defeat in Fort Erie is starting to turn on him, especially since he did nothing whatsoever to assist with their hospital fight out Grimsby way. Tim will probably hold on, but until they replace him as leader of the PC Party he will forever remain in opposition, maybe become the third party. He's a great critic, but not a leader unfortunately. |
