Easy Conservative win, Reform even did pretty well here in 88 with Manning even when they were a fringe party. Probably 70% of the votes for a win here for Merrifield. Also, Joe Clark resigned the seat and didnt run in 1993. He never lost it(although if he had run, theres a good chance he would have).

Joe Clark lost this riding to some no-name reformer back in 1993. A clear sign that this riding likes to vote for social conservatives. It does not matter who the candidate is, so long as he shares that viewpoint, and the CPC will ensure that their candidate does.
