Despite Linda Reid's 22-year tenure in Victoria, her winning margin last time was not exactly overwhelming. This riding voted against the HST by a large margin, is less urbanized (and therefore more populist) than its two neighbouring Richmond seats, and therefore seems to be a potential pickup for the NDP. But I'd give the Liberals a significant advantage because of their entrenched incumbent and the weak NDP challenger.

No way this is too close to call. Linda Reid has been a fixture in the riding for 22 years. She will win her sixth term and be a valuable part of the Liberals' rebuilding as one with the institutional memory of serving with the original 17 MLAs in 1991 and building up to government.
She will likely dip under the 50% mark, but her visibility in the community is such that she will pull through.

One has to look at the HST vote result http://www.elections.bc.ca/index.php/news/nr-ref-2011-6-1/
There are more than 14000 votes to extinguish the HST and less than 8000 votes to keep the HST. The combined NDP and Green vote from last election was about 7000. One has to wonder where those extra 7000 votes comes from and where they will go this election.
This riding is very much up for grab.

Too close to call for me. The gap is large but not insurmountable. A close race with either the Liberals or NDP capable of winning. The impact of ethnicgate might be the deciding factor here.

Expect Linda Reid who is the longest serving MLA will easily win this seat for the BC Liberals for a sixth consecutive time.
