the bloc should be able to hold this one. the cpc candidate is former canadian ambassador, rhodes scholar, mcgill professor and 2007 outremont by-election sacrifice candidate gilles duguay. duguay brings a profile, and you can bet that the cpc are spending the max here in this 2 horse, 3rd tier cpc target, but 18,000 votes is a lot of ground to make up. if this one goes conservative, it'll almost be unnecessary, as it'll be the 25th cpc seat in quebec, padding a commons majority of 15 or 20. |

Solid BQ federally/PQ provincially, barring meltdown. Which says something about the peculiarity of Quebec politics, because were such a seat in Ontario, it'd be akin to the WellingtonDufferinSimcoeDurhamVictoria exurban ‘blue belt’--a far cry from the NDP-proxy role BQ/PQ serves in seats like Hochelaga, Laurier-Ste Marie, Rosemont. Grand political coalitions can sure be funny... |

This was in the top 5 of BQ. Add to that a weaker ADQ-CPC presence, and you solidify it. Remember, the gap between the Bloc and CPC last time was 18000 votes, or 38%. Add to that a popular MP sitting for the Bloc, and you get the perfect formula for another BQ victory in this riding. |

Comté des Basses-Laurentides fortement souverainiste. Au dernières élections, les Bloc avait une avance de 18000 voix sur son plus proche rival. Les conservateurs feront sans doute mieux, mais pas assez pour prendre cette circonscription. |
