in the big NDP sweep of BC in 1988, this is one of the ridings that was surounded by NDP seats, but elected a PC MP. This riding is rather right-wing, and will vote right-wing again. |

Kelowna, a relatively conservative interior city, has an historical pedigree of voting for the PC/Reform/CA candidate, raking in 14,000 vote and 20,000 vote margins respectively in the 1997 and 2000 elections. While it is doubtful that the new CPC will reach the federal vote level of 49.4% attained in B.C. last time, this seat will likely remain in CPC hands. |
