Hillier will always be controversial on a province-wide scale; but on a local-incumbent-candidate scale, nothing any longer to be controversial about (though the Lanark-vs-Loyalist schism remains electorally evident--indeed, the Amherstview zone was practically a 3-way race). Oh, sure, maybe someday enough expatriate Torontonians will leapfrog Prince Edward and start moderating Balderson Cheese country a little...hasn't happened yet... |

The PCs will hold this one judging by history alone. The only question is: will it be with over 50% of the vote? |

Randy Hillier may drive many urban latte sipping types nuts, but even if people here aren't quite as redneck as him, many share the frustration that the government only cares about the large urban areas and not small town Ontario and he taps into this anger quite well. As such, he will win not only win again, but will be back with over 50%. That being said if Hudak loses, the party would be wise not to choose him as he is the type he would ensure the PCs don't make the gains they need in the 905 belt. While if Hudak wins, keep him in the backbench or give him a junior portfolio as his outburst won't help the party amongst the key swing voters. |
