Unlike LibDem-Labour contests, where the LibDems are up, and Labour is down, both the LibDems and Tories are up - it makes it that much harder for the LibDems to close a larger gap, especially in areas like the Midlands where they are not traditionally popular (and hence may well lack a strong party machine) |
