This riding may go Conservative for the next 50 years. Rural Albertans don't like to change and when we do it's only a subtle one (ie. Conservative -> Reform). The Conservative parties got 81% of the vote last time... Enough said. There are not many seats in Canada that are as assured as this one. With the way the Liberals are sliding Canadians may have to get used a cowboy hat or two in Cabinet meetings.

Myron Thompson will handily win this riding. I agree with the previous comment that his personality (and cowboy hat) give him a cavalier aura. Don't know if that's necessarily heroic, though.
This riding is changing. It's no longer purely ranch country, and the old Alberta-redneck-conservative demographic doesn't completely apply anymore. The Liberal candidate is the mayor of Cochrane, which is more of a Calgary commuter town than an agricultural center. And this riding encompasses Canmore and Banff, and people there demand an enlightened type of conservatism (how do you keep entrepreneurship thriving while maintaining the environmental sensibilities that have made Banff the place it is?)
Again, Thompson will win -- big time -- riding the Conservative resurgence that is making inroads as far as Ontario. The real battle, however, will be sometime in the future, when people in these parts want a slightly different type of conservatism representing them.

Anyone with a mild interest in politics is surly aware of the antics of Myron Thompson. Rather then being unpopular, these actions have made him a hero of sorts. I really cant see this "redneck" loosing in this mostly "redneck" riding (no offence intended)

This is rural Alberta, there is no way it's going anything other than Conservative.

Alright, this is it. The prediction on which I am almost willing to stake my career. Nothing short of divine intervention could cause the conservatives to lose Wild Rose. 68% for the Alliance is astounding enough, but now the old PCs are out of the picture. I wouldn't be surprised if the conservatives took home 80% of the votes here (Hey, Irwin Cotler did it in Trudeau's old riding of Mount Royal).

They don't come any bluer than Wild Rose. Myron Thompson will hold this rural Alberta riding easily.
