This is a new riding made up of 5 old CA ridings. The Conservatives should win easily. |

The new riding of Westlock - St.Paul is an interesting one. Spaning from west of Edmonton to the Saskatchewan border. It will more than likely be electing a Conservative MP in the next election, but there is a chance that it could be closer than others have predicted. In the 1990's, the area elected several rural Alberta Liberal MLA's (Colleen Soetaert in Spruce Grove-Sturgeon-St. Albert, Nick Taylor and Mary Anne Balsillie in Redwater, Paul Langevin in Lac La Biche-St.Paul, and Leo Vasseur in Bonnyville), so there are traditional Liberal voters in the riding. With a good candidate, the Liberals could potentially do better than predicted. |

At a majority of only 17,000 votes, this was a close one in 2000. This entire region is a CPC stronghold. |
