| It is quite absurd to project anything, but a NDP win. Look at the facts, you've got Manhas and young upstart who has angered many of the old time Liberals. He has torn apart the consitituency and caused bitter inner fighting. Scott Young, well known NDPer won Mayor easily, beating a Lib. supported candidate. Farnworth also a former City Councillor has been a competent, popular MLA and has deep roots in PoCo unlike Manhas. It is also important to note that many PoCo'ites who voted CA federally, DO vote NDP provincially. It's weird, but true. The CA/Reform got all their votes from the NDP. And these are western protest votes. But in a provicial election they'll go NDP. | |||

| This riding has changed a great deal since the last election. Gone is the Westwood Plateau, which was the Liberal stronghold. What is left is Port Coquitlam, which is an NDP stronghold. It is still a very blue-collar and young family oriented community. Farnworth is very popular here. Anyone who was at the late mayor's funeral, and saw Farnworth's eulogy will know why this community supports him. He will be re-elected. | |||

| I think that Karn Manhas will win because he is a strong, determined candidate. He has been working on this for over a year, and was undeterred when nay-sayers said that he was too young and inexperienced. Karn will go a long way when he gets elected - the small-minded people who worry about the fact that he comes from Port Moody, is young, and Indo-Canadian don't know Karn. Karn has deep roots in British Columbia - his grandfather came here around the turn of the century, I believe. He is articulate and ambitious. Port Coquitlam could do a lot worse! | |||

| All this hoopla nonsense by people saying young Mr. Manhas caused bitter infighting in the BC Liberal are just communista hacks ranting. The Manhas family has long and deep roots in the Tri-City community. Karn is no different. He has a community self and dedication that is concrete. To say that Mike Farnworth has been a good MLA is to ignore the facts. PoCo is one of the most underfunded areas in the province when it comes to BC Ambulance services. This fact was finally noticed when Farnworth was Minister of Health. He did nothing about it. PoCo will go BC Liberal and Mike Farnworth, along with the rest of the crooks he works with, will be bounced down the road. Where they belong is in jail. As for someone from Ontario putting a projection out there about a riding I grew up in, worked in, and have retired in is as stupid as these raging Bolsheviks hoping beyond hope that they will keep at least one riding in the upcoming, long anticipated BC Liberal landslide. We won the Cold War against communism globally, we will win it again through democracy in BC. | To suggest that Farnworth is a radical communist simply shows the ignorance of some of the extreme right-wing supporters of the Liberals. And it is rather unfair to say that PoCo got nothing in the past few years. Just look at the new schools. | |||

| I can't believe that comment about Farnworth doing nothing for PoCo. Farnworth has without a doubt has been the best MLA PoCo has ever had, tied with Dave Barrett. Look at everything PoCo has gotten because of Mike Farnworth. The new Bridge, School after School after School and support for a host of other programs and services. Mike will win, because PoCo owes him. He has given us some much good public service that he definitely deserves to be re-elected. Manhas, take a SEAT! By the way,thanks to Milton Chan for running this great service, I think that the right-wing Liberal would made a nasty comment towards this service and Farnworth should be bloody lucky he gets a service like this. | |||

| First of all - as a true Red Liberal let me apologize for the comments of the person who posted the obscence message about the current member and the NDP and doesn't even have the guts to identify themself - shame on you - if you have a party membership - do us a favor and please rip it up and go join some other party - your views are not the views of the Liberal Party - now's that said - the biggest problem facing Mike Farnsworth is the Rita Johnson/Kim Campbell syndrome - when people are mad and want to vote a party out - it doesn't matter if you are nice guy like Mike or a total twit - the voter vents their anger at the incumbent and this is the what will happen to Mike on election night regardless of whether the Liberal candidate is any good or not and I don't know him so I can't say anything about him. | |||

| I believe that Mike Farnworth will not survive the political storm that will sink the NDP. He has not distanced himself form their record, he was a big part of it. It will be a battle of who is the best organised on e-day. I believe that battle will be won by the Manhas campaign. The people of PoCo want representation. I don't believe political rhetoric fits so much into the average person's mindset as does local representation and the economy with large doses of teh leaky condo issue. Manhas is a new choice over the ploitics of yesterday. Farnworth and the NDP have had their chance to win the confidence of the people and they blew it. | |||

| Mike will win on election night in PoCo, he is still very popular personally, and Liberal Strong Hold Westwood Plateau is gone, leaving working class-blue collar PoCo and that will pull him through with little trouble here. | |||

| This is a hot riding that is attracting a lot of interest. The word on the streets is a Liberal Sweep of the Tri-Cities. Many think of Farnworth as a nice guy in a bad governemt, but this time "nice Guy" won't cut. Unless there is a major increase in the popularity of Chris Delaney and the BCUP's this riding and and the other 3 Tri-City ridings will go strongly Liberal. | |||

| This one could be close. Farnworth seems to have a rep in the riding as a "good constituency man", but that usually doesn't mean much in sweeps. You can also look for the BC Liberals to raise the Casinogate scandal with Farnworth -- don't forget he was Minister who approved the casino license for Glen Clark's buddies. Farnworth is hoping everyone has forgotten that, but it will come up again in a campaign. On the other hand, redistribution cost the Liberals a relatively well-to-do chunk of the riding. This will be one of the only close races in the province on election night... | |||

| Farnworth may be a likable guy, but I think the stink of Casinogate will come to haunt him. I'll never forget the image of him stumbling off that plane from Mexico, called back from his vacation, to take the blame for Glen Clark. Let's face it, if Farnworth had any personal credibility he would have resigned from Cabinet rather than take the blame. Manhas seems like a smart, hard working young guy. That's exactly what Farnworth used to be himself. I think the community is going to vote to put the whole Glen Clark-Casinogate scandal behind them and elect Karn Manhas. | |||

| I've lived in Port Coquitlam almost all my life, and I've never seen people more upset at a government than they are at the NDP. Many former NDP voters are telling me they will NOT be voting for Farnworth in the upcoming election, because he's just as tainted as all the other NDP MLAs who've driven this province into the ground over the past decade. Manhas WILL take this riding. | |||

| Farnworth might have some residual popularity, but the Red-Blue tide will wash everyone away, including Mikey. Study after study show that at the very most, the name of the candidate counts for no more than a 5% swing (except for lone wolves like Gordon Wilson used to be, and Gordon Gibson before him). The NDP's collapse is so massive that nothing will save any NDPer outside the downtown eastside. | |||

| That really annoys me that an NDP supporter would hack my words away from their meaning. That is just in step with how they have been trying to wapr the BCL's message also. Farnworth's representation reputation has taken a lot of blows. The paramedics during their 911 protests outside of his constituency office (a union protest that Manhas was invited to, and did attend)raised the point during the media coverage of it about ambulance response in PoCo. Also, in Kamloops NDP MP Nelson Riis was dumped federally. It was largely attributed in the political circles up there as a vote against the provincial NDP. Riis' constituncy work is legend. No matter what stripe of politics you are, the current administration is corrupt. They showed it again with the fudging of Hydro revenues. Farnsworth has been a part of that. Organisation will win the day in PoCo, you can bet Manahs is in this to win. | |||
