BBC Andrew Black 204.9.162.70 |
BBC Andrew Black identified this as a battleground seat. ‘Labour's Calum MacDonald polled more than 55% of the vote in 1997. In the 2001 general election the SNP halved his Westminster majority to just over 1,000 votes and in 2005 a 9.3% swing to the SNP helped Angus MacNeil overturn Labour's majority. Mr MacNeil won by fewer than 1,500 votes - but this accounts for more than 10% of the vote in this sparsely populated seat.’ |

The Tories can be expected to increase their share of the vote, but I think the SNP will increase their majority here at the expense of Labour. |
