Chilliwack may be bible belt Liberal, but Hope and Fraser Canyon are fairly strong NDP country (besides 2001 of course). There are probably not enough numbers out east to really sway the vote, but it should be quite a lot closer than it has been in the past in just Chilliwack before the electoral map redrawing. Barry Penner may have gotten himself a little environmental credit over the years, and Gwen O'Mahony may be a new face, but I think the NDP will be putting up at least some fight in this newly redrawn riding. It's too bad about the old Yale-Lillooet riding, a truly historic riding since 1966, (based on the Lillooet riding - one of the original 12 ridings in BC).

Heart of bible belt. There is a better chance of some far-right fringe-party upset then this going to the NDP. Liberal hold.
