Mississauga East-Cooksville has some sort of social conservative bug where everybody's got traditional family values, is it Cooksville or Cookstown, because Albina Guarnieri the Liberal is going to jump over Tory Riina DeFaria and not stop until she gets to Ottawa. |

Riina DeFaria, the wife of a former Ontario Cabinet Minister, is well-liked and very well-known in this city through many events in the community and various volunteer activities. The Liberal candidate, on the other hand, is rarely seen at any community events in Mississauga. |

I've met both Riina DeFaria and her ex-Ontario Cabinet minister hubby Carl DeFaria many, many times. Not a slight against either of them, but Riina has less than half the personality Carl does. And that's saying less than it sounds like it's saying. If the quality of a local candidate matters, then Riina will have no luck. |

Failed, yes--but Mike Harris ran her equally "failed" husband Carl DeFaria in 1995...and he won! And again in 1999, though not in 2003; maybe if it was he and not she running this time, one would be less smug. Anyway, while Guarnieri was 1988's only undisputed Liberal pickup in the immediate 905 belt, it may have had something to do with new seat/no PC incumbent. However, she's developed a knack as a maverick constituency person without the loose-cannonness of neighbour Carolyn Parrish. Vulnerable only if CPC garners over 1/2 of Ontario seats and sweeps up DeFariesque cannon-fodder nonentities as well. And as an aside; shouldn't Larry Taylor have run *here* for the NDP

With the Tories running failed candidate Riina DeFaria again, this should be an easy win for Cabinet Minister Guarnieri. |
