This race will be much closer than many people think. There is a general feeling that the voters in this riding are seeking a change. More specifically, they are seeking more than a voice in Fredericton, they are seeking someone who can actually achieve results. I think with alot of door to door campaigning the Liberal candidate Anne-Marie Mullin will win this election and the Liberal party will regain this seat for the first time since 1991.

The one sitting NDP-er the party will fight tooth and nail to keep Weir in office. I don't think that will be too much of a problem.

I agree that Elizabeth Weir will be hard to beat but don't count Anne-Marie Mullin out yet, Tory vote will be down and these voters will go Liberal before voting NDP....But Weir will probably win anyway and Mullin will be closer than people think in 2nd place.....

Election after election, the New Brunswick NDP's high hopes have been dashed on the rocks of traditional voting. This election may be a turning point for NDP leader Elizabeth Weir. Car insurance is on the minds of New Brunswickers (just like with Nova Scotians) and Weir is coming up with the most definitive answer (whether one agrees with Public Insurance or not, its more real than what the PCs and Liberals are offering). If this issue does what it could do, its very hard to even begin to guess the seats that will go NDP...except this one.

Elisabeth est une gagnante. Il ne fait pas de doute qu'elle va conserver son siège. Après 1 mandat conservateur, il y a de fortes chances que les NPD augmente son vote au NB.

Mrs. Weir is a popular New Democrat. She ran for president at the last federal convention, and while she lost, she clearly is a well-knowen New Democrat, and I doubt she will be beaten by anyone.

Saint John Harbour, not Saint John Lancaster, is the current NDP seat in N.B. Needless to say, this riding will remain NDP, for MLA and NDP leader Elizabeth Weir has a lock on it.
