An offbeat Labour gain in 1997, not least for the associations of the constituency name (and the fact that Labour was only a couple of points above LD in '92; in fact, just a small tactical equilibrium shift could have made this part of the SW London yellow patch instead). To say the least, Tories have grand-slam hopes here. Rotsa ruck. |
