An even more treacherous Labour shocker than Upminster amongst their NE London gains, it's now the Tories' top Labour target in London *and* surrounding counties (that is, if one counts out the hairline Kettering-to-Milton Keynes axis). |

Hard right-winger Andrew Rosindell represents all that is worrying about the present Tory party but he is a formidable campaigner. He won his council seat in Havering on a swing of over 20% from the Lib Dems in 1990 and now holds it with over 70% of the vote. He was born and bred in Romford and will win here easily. |

Thuis seat will see a sizeable swing to the Conservatives and a Tory gain. Theire top target in London, the Tory candidate has lived there his whole life and won a council seat from Labour in 1990 - ten years on, he wins the seat with over 80%b of the vote. Rosindell is demonstrating locally that he is in touch with the gut instincts of the people of Romford, not least in their hostility to all things European. |

I agree that this will be one of the few certain Tory gains-but I'm sure that the people of Romford can't be as unpleasant and Xenophobic as JI suggests. |
