Ilford South always used to be a key marginal, switching back and forward frequently but it isn't likely to start doing so again. Labour were leading by 47-31 in the 1999 Euro elections, a massive lead in an election Labour did badly in generally. There should be another big Labour win here, and even if the Conservatives manage to struggle back into contention at this election, or, more likely, some time further in the future, they probably won't be back in Ilford South. |
