Labour aren't particularly targeting SW Beds, but should be advised to do so seeing as the Tory majority is only 132. Sir David Madel, a veteran Tory 'wet' (moderate), is standing down, and after thirty-one years' service must surely have accumulated some kind of personal vote. Even if his personal vote is only a few hundred, once that is taken out of the equation Labour start ahead. This is mentioned by today's Times as one of the few Tory-held seats which Central office thinks need shoring up and will receive visits by Hague's 'Battle Bus'. |
