Caccia won this riding with 65+% in the last federal election. He has kept his riding Liberal for over thirty years and won't have any trouble doing the same this year.

If one goes by Frank, the only local folks who'd really like to see Caccia go are ambitious municipal Grits who're salivating for an open-seat ticket into Parliament. Otherwise, this may also be deemed an NDP "bookmark target", as a strong second-place showing by a young rookie candidate showed in '97. Though they can't depend on the solidarity-support of defeated NDP MPP Tony Silipo anymore...

Before jumping the gun on assumptions, one must look at how the municipal election went. An outspoken NDP'er convincingly beat a die-hard Conservative. Not that the Liberals have a chance of losing this seat, but with the doctor being a (although not willingly) silent backbencher, the NDP make steal a good deal of votes.
