The home of Alliance caucus Whip Chuck Strahl. He will be returning to Ottawa.
20/10/00 J Smith Email:
Alliance in a landslip. Strahl is popular, this is a conservative area. Put the two together and you have alliance re-election all of it. (Just a side note, Chuck is the house leader, not the whip.)

The Liberals thought they could get mileage by fielding the mayor of Chilliwack in 1997. They lost by 41 points. Chuck Strahl roasts'em like chuck steak.

Strahl has a high profile and the riding is very conservative. Alliance in a landslide.

There are now five candidates seeking election in this riding. In addition to the two listed on your page, the Progressive Conservatives have nominated Rocky Nenka, a 22 year old sous chef who previously ran unsuccessfully as a candidate for city council. Although he is not expected to win the riding, he has garnered a lot of favourable local press for his youthful enthusiasm. The NDP have nominated Rob Lees, who was their candidate in the last election. A fifth candidate is running for the Marijuana Party of Canada.
