Ontario's "Fewer Politicians Act" (1996) reduced the number of members of the Legislative Assembly by making the number and boundaries of provincial electoral districts identical to those of their federal counterparts and to make consequential amendments to statutes concerning electoral representation. This legislation reduced the size of the legislature from 130 seats to 103 seats. For this reason, some sitting MPPs may face contest from other sitting MPPs.
